Prosecutors say the pair stole nearly million worth of Lululemon clothes from stores across the country

ROSEVILLE, Minn. (KVLY/Gray News) – A Connecticut couple has been accused of stealing nearly $1 million worth of clothes from Lululemon stores across the country, according to authorities.

Jadion Anthony Richards, 44, and Akwele Nickeishs Lawes-Richards, 45, allegedly stole items worth nearly $5,000 from the Lululemon store on Nov. 13, according to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office.

A day later, the pair were found at another Lululemon store, where they were arrested.

Investigators said thousands of dollars worth of Lululemon clothing was found in their Bloomington hotel room.

Authorities said the pair allegedly robbed one of Lululemon’s stores, exchanged the stolen items at another store, then used the receipt to return the exchanged items and pocket the cash.

Prosecutors say the couple’s scheme involved stores across the country, including in New York, Connecticut, Colorado and Utah.

The complaint states that Lululemon’s estimated loss is nearly $1 million.

Both Richards and Lawes-Richards were charged with organized retail theft.

A judge set bail at $30,000 for Lawes-Richards with conditions, or $200,000 for unconditional release. Richards’ bail was set at $100,000 if released on parole and $600,000 if released unconditionally.

This is the first case the office has charged under Minnesota’s new organized retail theft law.
