The woman who died in a train crash in Sumner County has been identified

PORTLAND, Tenn. (WSMV) – The woman who died after a train collided with an SUV in Portland, Tennessee has been identified, according to Smokey Barn News.

Smokey Barn News reported that 66-year-old Shirley Hollan died at the scene after the train struck her SUV at the intersection.

According to Smokey Barn News, Hollan was trying to cross the railroad tracks when she was approached by an eastbound train. Authorities said Hollan reportedly ignored the crossing signal and attempted to cross the tracks.

SBN reported that Hollan’s car hit the train, flipped onto its roof and came to rest face down in a ditch.

Hollan’s family founded GoFundMe help pay for funeral costs.
