“Blackmailer” shot by trader in Tarn Taran, advisors flee

The extortion attempt turned bloody when a local trader allegedly opened fire in self-defense, killing one of the suspects.

Sukhwinder Singh alias Noni, a resident of Naushehra Pannuan village in Tarn Taran and cousin of gangster Satnam Singh Satt Naushehra, was shot dead when he and his two accomplices allegedly went to extort money from a seed trader (name withheld by police).

SSP Abhimanyu Rana said that efforts are on to identify his accomplices who fled after the trader opened fire.

Noni and his unidentified accomplices were in touch with Gopi Nambardar, who is currently in jail. He is a close associate of Satta Naushehra and has had many criminal cases filed against him.

The SSP stated that Noni called the victim and threatened to kill him and his family, demanding extortion. The suspect and two assistants went to collect money from the dealer. One of them stood in the distance with a bicycle, while Noni and his other accomplice went to the victim. The victim refused to give the money, which led to a heated exchange of words. In the melee, the merchant opened fire, leaving Noni dead.

“We will take Gopi with a production order for further examination,” the SSP said.
