Influencer arrested after uploading Target video allegedly showing items stolen

Marlena Velez, 22, was arrested after sharing a video of herself going shopping at Target, only to be wearing the same clothes she allegedly stole in a later video.

An influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers was arrested after a video she posted online backfired spectacularly and landed her in handcuffs.

American social media star Marlena Velez posted a “Get ready with me” video to her 349,000 followers on TikTok. This is a popular trend where people take snapshots of what their daily lives are like.

However, the 22-year-old made a big mistake in the recording.

Police in Florida shared a wanted photo on social media showing a dark-haired woman wearing glasses, a brown shirt and matching pants leaving Target with a cart full of stolen merchandise.

After police posted the photo on TikTok, Velez could be seen in the “Get Ready With Me” video wearing “the same outfit and glasses” she was wearing on CCTV while she was allegedly cheating at the self-checkout at the store.
