Resilience expert Korrin Barrett will be a guest speaker at the suicide prevention auction on Friday.

The event, organized by the Reid O’Leary Charitable Trust, will take place at the Atrium at Tribune in Hastings’ Queen Street.

Barrett, a Kiwi quadruple amputee and motivational speaker, faced her biggest challenge in 2012, but after the trauma, she realized she had built a resilience she never knew she had.

She spent 233 days in hospital and countless hours in rehabilitation, but decided not to accept that losing her limbs meant giving up her intense, active lifestyle.

She experienced many losses, not only physical ones, but also the loss of her brother, who took his own life in 2014.
