Investigators say a 19-year-old man was stabbed by his girlfriend during a telephone argument

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WESH) – The family of a 19-year-old Florida man is devastated after he was allegedly stabbed to death by his estranged girlfriend.

Zoe Cooper, 18, was arrested last Friday on second-degree murder charges in connection with the death of her estranged boyfriend, 19-year-old Tadarius Massey.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, an argument broke out between Cooper and Massey in August at her west Orange County home. Investigators say Cooper was upset that Massey wouldn’t give her access to his phone.

The arrest report states that the incident was physical in nature and that Massey was stabbed multiple times.

Detectives say Cooper drove Massey to a hospital in Ocoee but did not get out of the car. The victim’s friends took him to the hospital and Cooper returned home.

The next day, the arrest report says Cooper posted a photo of the two on social media, saying, “If I could take it back or switch places in a heartbeat, I would. I love you always. I’m really sorry for what I did. It wasn’t supposed to be like this.”

Massey was pronounced dead at the hospital. The autopsy report showed that the stab wound hit his heart, and another stab wound to his left shoulder hit the bone. He also had two old, healed stab wounds on or near his left arm.

The victim’s manager at Subway told detectives that Massey would come to work looking beaten and also told her about incidents in which Cooper allegedly attacked him. She also said Cooper would come to Subway and look at Massey without talking to him.

Investigators say another incident occurred in December 2023 at Ocoee High School during which Cooper attacked Massey for not allowing her to look at his phone.

Detectives found messages on both cellphones in which Cooper allegedly threatened to kill Massey by stabbing him and expressed regret for not killing him sooner.

Arrest reports show that in March messages, Cooper told Massey, “And I will spit in your grave. I wish you had died that day. Seriously, I hope you die a very painful death.

Massey’s family is devastated. His mother claims that the 19-year-old was her only child, and the family is still in mourning and unable to cope with the tragedy.
