Yellowstone fans are shocked when the true cause of John Dutton’s death is revealed in a shocking new episode

Paramount Network’s Yellowstone continues its final season with a new episode on Sunday that shows exactly how John Dutton (Kevin Costner) was killed.

Fans were furious after this discovery, although it turned out that Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri) – the new girl with whom Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) is involved – went through a company that specializes in making murders look like suicides.

It didn’t take long for John’s other children Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce (Luke Grimes) to realize that Jamie was involved in their father’s death.

Beth vowed to kill Jamie herself, and while it’s unclear when or even that will happen, the show’s opening moments revealed exactly how Dutton was murdered.

The reveal was shown in another flashback, which once again irked fans, with others revealing how shocked they were to see John murdered.

The episode began with another flashback to before John was killed and Beth and Rip were at their hotel in Amarillo, Texas.

Beth says she can’t do this for a year, but Rip says there are rules and she has to stay with the herd.

He says there won’t be any more surprises and to let her know when he’s coming before he leaves to go back to work.

As Beth begins her journey back to Montana, black-clad soldiers are seen overpowering John and faking his death as a suicide by injecting something into his foot and arranging his suicide.

As this happens, Beth suddenly becomes dazed with the thought that something is wrong, while Kayce also wakes up from her sleep.

Beth calls Rip and asks if he’s okay, insisting that something is wrong, then Rip tells her to stop if she gets tired.

A soldier arrives at the governor’s mansion to find that it has been a suicide, but the soldiers are gone.

Fans were not only shocked to see John die, but also irritated by the thought that Beth and Kayce could somehow “feel” their father’s death.
