Tragic murder following beer dispute: teenager murdered near train station | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: In a tragic incident that highlighted the risks of unregulated sale of alcohol late at night, a 19-year-old youth was murdered near a local railway station on Saturday evening while fighting for a promised bottle of beer at the hands of five friends at the station. Victim Kamaljeet Singh he was from Mohalla Adarsh ​​Nagar.
The teenager was with three friends when they met one of the accused, Happy Rajput, near the station around 1 am. The victim reportedly asked Happy to buy him a bottle of beer. Initially compliant, Happy later refused and joined two other friends, Sandeep and Sunil, who were sitting in a nearby parked car.
When Kamaljeet confronted Happy about reneging on his promise, a heated argument broke out. Happy along with his friends Sandeep and Sunil and two others, Shiva and Ankit, attacked Kamaljeet with batons and sticks which they had in the car, based on what the police learned.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Anil Kumar Bhanot explained to the media how Kamaljeet’s friends initially tried to intervene but fled the scene as the violence escalated. After Kamaljeet fell unconscious and the attackers escaped, his friends shifted him to the civil hospital in Ludhiana. He was later referred to the Christian Medical College (CMC) Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Arrests, investigation
Police have arrested three suspects – Happy Rajput (19), Shiva (18) and Ankit (22), while two others, Sandeep and Sunil, remain at large. The FIR was registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including those relating to rioting and murder committed with common intention. Authorities are conducting further raids to arrest the remaining suspects.
