Ghanaian socialite Samuel Safo, popularly known as Showboy, has revealed his frustration in prison after his arrest for stabbing the late Junior US.

In an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso on the Delay Show on November 23, 2024, Showboy noted that he felt he had disappointed his parents, which forced him to take his own life.

The showboy emphasized that all his attempts to take his own life turned out to be in vain.

“When I was sentenced to fifteen years in prison, I asked my fellow prisoners and the years they spent in a cell motivated me a bit. The prisoner called me a monkey, which provoked me to fight him. Then I was taken to the bunker. he remained there for fourteen days without contacting anyone. The food they gave me was a mess.

“I had to fall in love with myself because I was thinking about suicide. My mother didn’t even know I was in prison, but I knew someone might tell her because the news was all over the world. I tore the sheet they gave me, threw it on the rope and hung myself. I tried many times but I couldn’t do it, I regretted it a lot,” he said.

Additionally, Showboy revealed that despite his time in prison, he remained active on social media and also revealed that he dated a correctional officer while behind bars.

“I had a corrections officer who was my girlfriend. One morning I woke up with my phone under my pillow. They wrote on it: call this number. Thanks to this, I was able to connect to the Internet. But my fellow prisoners beat him and they took him from me. That phone cost about $5,000 in prison. I’m not kidding, prices in prison are different from those outside,” he added.

Background

Showboy was arrested after an altercation with Junior US in the United States in 2019.

Earlier in an interview with Fifii Pratt on Kingdom FM, detailing the course of events between them, he noted that Junior US was not his friend and immediately showed his dislike for him when Criss Waddle first introduced them.

Showboy revealed that Junior US was supposed to give him a sum of money, but instead of money, he brought some laptops and he (Showboy) was supposed to sell them.

This led to a brawl where Junior US confronted him with a knife and then began brutally attacking him, leaving him (Showboy) no choice but to retaliate.

During a fight with Junior US, his companion stabbed him with a knife, but he claimed that he had no connection with Junior US’s death. Showboy said that Junior died due to attacks by some women as reported in the news.
