KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Police responded to a crash on southbound Highway 71 just before Bannister Road on Oct. 27 at 4:36 a.m.

Two Kansas City police vehicles were involved in the collision. An investigation revealed that police were originally called to another collision at the same location.

When police arrived, they found a black Dodge Charger abandoned and destroyed, and a tow was ordered for the vehicle.

While police were waiting for a tow truck, a Ford Fusion approached from behind and struck the back of KCPD’s Ford Explorer.

This crash forced the Explorer into the front of and into the back of a second KCPD Ford Explorer. The second KCPD Explorer then struck the Dodge Charger.

An impairment investigation is ongoing.
