Driver dies after crashing into tree in Woodstock – Shaw Local

A male driver died on Sunday evening after colliding with a tree Woodstock– officials say.

The Woodstock Fire District and Woodstock Police Department responded just before 10 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of East Kimball Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle accident. Emergency crews arrived within four minutes to a “seriously damaged vehicle” that had struck a tree, Alex Vucha, public information officer for the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, said in a news release. The police performed CPR on the male driver, who was immediately transported by ambulance.

Officials say a male driver died Sunday night after colliding with a tree in Woodstock.

“Unfortunately, despite the advanced efforts of doctors, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene… due to the severity of his injuries,” Vucha said in a statement.

According to the release, only the driver, who has not been identified, was in the car, and no other cars were involved in the incident. Firefighters remained on scene until 12:30 a.m. to assist police and the coroner’s office with their investigation. Kimball Avenue was closed in both directions.

Woodstock police and the prosecutor’s office are investigating the accident McHenry County Regional Major Accident Assistant Team.
