Golden Meadow man killed in St. Patrick’s crash. Mary

On Friday, a man from Złota Łąka died in the parish of St. Mary.

According to state police, the crash happened around 1 p.m. Friday on La. 182 near Progress Lane. 65-year-old Russ Theriot is said to have died in the crash.

The initial investigation revealed that Theriot was driving a 2023 Toyota Tacoma east on LA 182. For reasons that are still under investigation, the Toyota left the roadway to the right, struck an embankment and utility poles, and then overturned.

The immobilized Theriot suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Standard toxicology samples were collected from Theriot and sent for analysis.

Although the cause of this accident is still under investigation, drunkenness and impaired driving remain the leading causes of accidents in our state, police say. Louisiana State Police are urging all drivers to remain sober, alert and alert on the road.
