Police say a Methuen man was arrested after a high-speed chase in a stolen Mercedes

Officials said a 40-year-old Methuen man was arrested Monday morning after he allegedly led state police troopers on a chase through eastern Massachusetts in a stolen SUV traveling at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour.

Andrew McInnes was arrested in West Boylston, where troopers located the Mercedes SUV using its built-in GPS system after they abandoned the pursuit in hopes of de-escalating the high-speed chase, state police said in a statement.

State police said troopers first spotted the Mercedes, which was reported stolen in Derry, New Jersey, traveling south on Interstate 93 just before 10 a.m. They gave chase, following the luxury vehicle onto southbound Interstate 495 and onto U.S. 2 before abandoning the pursuit.

The statement did not say what charges McInnes might face.
