A tribute to a beloved father shot dead in a car in Birmingham

In a statement issued by the police, Mr Asmael’s family said: ‘We truly belong to Allah and to Him we will return. Our beloved husband, son, father and brother.”

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage of the area to contact police.

Det Ch Insp Laura Harrison said: “Our thoughts are with Raad’s family at this incredibly difficult time and we are doing everything we can to understand exactly what happened.

“The shooting occurred near a busy intersection with City Road and you may have information that could assist us in progressing our investigation.

“If so, please contact us urgently.”
