Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa returns with points but no wins

During four games, this quarterback Tua Tagovailoa spent on injured reserve due to concussionThe Miami Dolphins offense scored three touchdowns and converted 11 of 50 third-down snaps into first down touchdowns.

During Tagovailoa’s return to the field on Sunday, Miami scored three touchdowns and converted 11 of 15 third-down snaps into first downs.

But despite the immediate improvement in the case of the former Alabama All-American in the lineup for the first time since Sept. 12. The Dolphins still lost 28-27 when the Arizona Cardinals’ Chad Ryland kicked a 34-yard field goal on the final snap of the game.

“Tough loss today against a really good team,” Tagovailoa said. “It diminishes not only what I did, but also much of what others have done individually.”

Miami was 1-3 without Tagovailoa and is currently 2-5 overall.

“There’s Always Time, Brother” Tagovailoa said. “Seventeen games is a long time, a lot of games, so whether we get kicked out or not, it doesn’t matter. We’re going to keep playing football. A lot of people here know, I don’t know how many years ago we started with 1-7. We didn’t have half the guys we have – and I’m not being disrespectful to my other teammates, but I’m talking about the talent we have here. However, many years ago we didn’t even have half this talent. To show respect to this group, we won eight consecutive games. I’m not saying we’ll do it or anything, but it’s possible.

“Anything is possible, so we will continue to trust each other, lean on each other and believe in each other and we will do it next week.”

Tagovailoa completed 28 of 38 passes for 234 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions against Arizona.

“I would say I felt at home.” Tagovailoa said. “I prepared for five weeks as if I was going to play on IR, so going out there felt normal.”

Tagovailoa also had three fumbles. The Cardinals didn’t recover any of them, but one of them, when the QB couldn’t handle the snap, passed the end zone for a safety with 6:15 left in the third quarter, cutting Miami’s lead to 20-12.

“I have to catch the ball” Tagovailoa said. “That’s all.”

In his first action in six weeks, Tagovailoa carried the Dolphins 64 yards in 10 plays for a touchdown on the first series of the game. His first pass was to fullback Alec Ingold, who gained 16 yards on his second snap of the game.

Miami also scored a touchdown on its first possession of the second half on a six-second, 70-yard pass that ended with Tagovailoa’s 12-yard pass to running back De’Von Achane as the Dolphins took a 20-10 lead.

After safety and touchdown in Arizona,

Miami went up 70 yards in nine plays on Raheem Mostert’s second touchdown return of the game to give the Dolphins a 27-18 lead with 12:22 left in the game.

“Although that’s more or less what I expected,” Miami coach – said Mike McDaniel Tagovailoa’s performance. “He did a really good job on the third try. Overall, the most important thing was that we had a little more of our brand of football, which we felt would probably have been a good thing if we hadn’t been 2-5. …

“I thought it was good for his teammates. I think the team sometimes felt like it was more of a picture of what we had imagined all along about how we played football. However, it wasn’t clean enough to win and that’s the most important conclusion for me.
