Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs allegedly ‘abused his staff’: prosecutors

Prosecutors allege this Sean “Diddy” Combswho is seeking $50 million bail, “physically abused his staff.”

The claim was contained in a letter to US District Judge Arun Subramanian, who is considering whether to grant bail to the music mogul after being twice denied by two different judges.

On Friday, November 22, Combs appeared in federal court in Manhattan for a bail hearing. His lawyers proposed strict release conditions if released on bail, including 24-hour supervision.

Prosecutors sought to prevent his release, telling the judge that the tycoon allegedly violated federal prison laws while in prison and that he sought to intimidate potential witnesses.

In the latest letter to the judge, obtained by PEOPLE, prosecutors outline the seriousness of the charges against Combs and claim that the Bad Boy Records founder abused and threatened women for years, citing one incident in which he allegedly showed up at a woman’s home and tried to break down her door with a hammer.

The letter also included allegations that Combs was abusive to his staff.

“In addition to his romantic partners, the defendant physically abused his staff,” prosecutors said. “Former employees described being threatened with death by the defendant, throwing objects at them, being punched, punched and pushed by the defendant, and seen him doing the same to others.”

Combs is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after being indicted in September on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. He pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

In Combs’ latest bail proposal, his lawyers called the prosecutor’s case “narrow” and suggested releasing him on $50 million bail with extremely strict conditions that significantly limit the tycoon’s contacts.

During Friday’s hearing, Combs’ lawyers said yes live in a three-bedroom apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side if released on bail.

Subramanian’s bail decision is expected this week. Combs’ trial is currently scheduled for May 2025.
