Man on parole arrested after being caught shoplifting with stepson in Upland

This is not your typical father and son trip. A man was arrested after he was caught shoplifting with his stepson.

Some Upland the officer was patrolling Colonies Shopping Center when a loss prevention officer informed him of a theft that had just occurred.

A damage prevention worker pointed out a teenager who allegedly stole several items. The teenager was then detained by officers.

During the investigation, the officers determined that the teenager’s stepfather was loading a large amount of clothes into his luggage and was about to leave the premises.

Police reported that at the time the stepfather was leaving, he had no idea that his stepson had been detained.

When the stepfather was leaving the building, he was attacked by officers. He did not agree to this and fled on foot. He was quickly knocked to the ground and arrested.

Police said he stole nearly $900 worth of merchandise, was also on active parole on a parole violation warrant, and had a separate warrant for assault with a deadly weapon.

The stepfather was punished and taken to prison, the teenager was handed over to his mother and released.
