An inmate dies at Faribault Prison

An inmate died at the Faribault prison last week, according to Minnesota Department of Corrections officials.

DOC spokesman Aaron Swanum said the inmate was found unresponsive around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. Jail staff tried to revive him using cardiopulmonary resuscitation and an AED while an ambulance was en route, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The inmate’s name and cause of death have not yet been made public.

Faribault law enforcement and DOC are investigating the death.
