Three dangerous criminals arrested in Chico in separate incidents within two days

The Chico Police Department (CPD) helped apprehend three dangerous fugitives hiding in Chico over the past two days.

Police said that on Friday, a CPD officer witnessed a vehicle flagged in the California vehicle database. The car was marked as linked to a man wanted in Los Angeles for possession of a fully automatic rifle. Officers located the vehicle traveling east on State Route 32 toward Bruce Road. CPD said that due to traffic, the officer was unable to get behind the suspect vehicle and lost sight of it.

CPD said patrol officers were able to move a vehicle parked at the Sierra Sunrise Terrace address. Officers contacted the Chico Police Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) and the Interagency Narcotics Task Force RTask Force (BINTF) to assist in locating and arresting the dangerous criminal.

The wanted felon, identified as 21-year-old Azhoni Meeks-Davenpor, was arrested by CPD with intelligence assistance from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Additionally, CPD reported that their department received a call from an Oregon State Patrol detective that same day. A detective informed CPD that the Chico area may have one to two wanted criminals involved in an armed burglary, robbery and kidnapping in west-central Oregon. Police said the suspects were possibly driving a U-Haul truck.

On Saturday, police spotted the U-Haul and conducted a traffic stop. CPD said both suspects from Oregon were located and arrested.

Further investigation led to the collection of evidence linking both suspects to the crime. CPD identified the suspects as 25-year-old Dwayne Connell and 27-year-old Aldane Hamilton, both from Jamaica.
