LOS ANGELES (KABC) — The county coroner’s office confirmed Monday that Ryan Kobayashi, the father of a Hawaii woman who went missing in Los Angeles, died by suicide over the weekend.

Kobayashi’s body was found on Sunday morning near Los Angeles International Airport. Earlier this month, the 58-year-old flew to Los Angeles to help search for his missing daughter, 30-year-old Hannah Kobayashi.

The Los Angeles Police Department told ABC News that Ryan Kobayashi’s body was found around 4 a.m. Sunday at 6151 W. Century Blvd., a business near LAX.

On Monday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner released a finding that the cause of death was suicide and the cause was listed as multiple blunt force trauma, indicating that the body was found in the parking lot.

GoFundMe was created to help Kobayashi’s fiancée.

A note on his niece’s website reads in part: “Since Hannah’s disappearance, he has been living his absolute worst nightmare, and now, with his death, our family is dealing with unimaginable grief. “Ryan’s love for his family was boundless and he would do anything to protect and care for his daughters.”
