A man murders his wife, mother-in-law and then commits suicide in Haridwar

Police recovered a gun allegedly used for shooting and a baseball bat.

A horrifying case of double murder and suicide has come to light in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. A 60-year-old man allegedly shot himself in the head after murdering his wife and mother-in-law, police said based on a preliminary investigation. Police recovered a gun allegedly used for shooting and a baseball bat. The investigation is ongoing.

The man was identified as Rajiv Arora, who arrived in Haridwar from Delhi along with his wife Sunita Arora on Sunday.

On Monday afternoon, police arrived at the scene after receiving a call from tenants complaining about shots fired.

“The house was locked from the inside. We broke down the door and found three bodies. The incident took place in Ranipur town of Haridwar,” said Parmendra Dobhal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Haridwar.

At first glance, Mr. Arora attacked his wife with a baseball bat and then killed his mother-in-law by shooting her in the head. According to the police, the man committed suicide.

Police suspect a domestic dispute occurred, but the reasons for the murder-suicide are not yet clear.

The police are investigating the case from every angle and interrogating relatives to determine the cause of the murders.
