TSHWANE – Four foreign shop owners have been arrested after allegedly shooting at community members in Atteridgeville.

As a result of an incident that occurred in the Saulsville area on Monday, November 25, 2024, one person, a 32-year-old man, was injured.

4 foreigners detained in connection with the alleged shooting

Briefly News it’s on good authority that this happened after residents went around trying to shut down foreign businesses.

Gauteng police spokesman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi he said four men were subsequently arrested and charged with attempted murder.

“The community informed arriving officers that Somalis (citizens) who were at the spa had shot and killed one community member.

“The victim (suffered) gunshot (wounds) to her right arm and (her) right upper leg. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.”

The suspects were found still inside the store and arrested. Nevhuhulwi said their appearance was expected court Soon.

The Soweto community wants Ramaphosa gone

In related news Briefly News reported that many residents of Gauteng’s Soweto are furious after President Cyril Ramaphosa’s blanket statement ordering unregistered local or foreign spaza shops to do so within 21 days.

On November 19, the opposing group prevented other community members from registering spa shops owned by foreigners renting space from their yards at the Jabulani Customer Service Center.

A few days earlier, on November 15, Ramaphosa addressed the nation on: food the poisoning crisis that has plagued SA since the beginning of the year.
