Man arrested in fatal Pickens Co. hit-and-run.

PICKENS COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash in Pickens County.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol arrested 25-year-old Jose Brito-Ruiz of Greenville after an incident that occurred on Farrs Bridge Road after 11 p.m.

On Friday, Oct. 25, troopers said Brito-Ruiz was driving north in a Toyota RAV4 when he reportedly collided with an ATV trying to turn off Old Vinland School Road.

The quad driver died on the spot.

The Pickens County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as Kyle Thornall, 37, of Easley.

It was reported that after the crash, Brito-Ruiz fled the scene and was later arrested.

The police charged the suspect with causing a fatal road accident and leaving the scene of the accident.

Brito-Ruiz was booked into the Pickens County Detention Center, troopers said.

SCHP is investigating the crash.
