Police say a male suspect spotted at UVM has been identified

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Police at the University of Vermont say they have identified a suspicious man spotted on campus earlier this month and he is not linked to an attempted sexual assault that occurred nearby.

Burlington police say a man jumped at a woman and tried to rip off her clothes on Nov. 2 near the UVM campus at South Prospect and Maple streets.

A week later, UVM police asked the public for help in identifying a suspicious man seen on campus who was briefly detained and then fled.

At that time it was not certain whether the two events were related.

On Tuesday, UVM police said they had identified a man seen on campus and had issued a trespassing warrant for him. They also say they don’t believe he had anything to do with the attempted sexual assault. They did not reveal his name.
