A 95-year-old Glen Arbor man was killed and another was injured after a car hit Benzonia Twp.

BenzIE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) – A 95-year-old Glen Arbor man is dead and another pedestrian was seriously injured after he was struck by a car while crossing US-31 near Traverse Avenue in Benzonia Township on Monday. this evening, according to the Benzie County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on Monday around 7:40 p.m.

The sheriff’s office identified the second pedestrian as a 79-year-old woman from Empire.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

The driver, identified as 39-year-old Grawn, and her passenger were not injured.

The sheriff’s office said neither alcohol nor speed played a factor in the crash.

“The Benzie County Sheriff’s Office would like to express its sincere condolences to all the individuals and families affected by this disaster,” said Sheriff Kyle Rosa. “We would also like to remind pedestrians to exercise caution and care when crossing roads and to use marked pedestrian crossings where they are at them.”
