Detroit teenager accused of accidentally shooting 12-year-old cousin

The 12-year-old hoped everything would be okay

Shooting on November 25 in the 18800 block of Saint Aubin Street (WDIV)

DETROIT – A Detroit teenager was charged Tuesday with accidentally shooting his 12-year-old cousin Monday night.

The the shooting took place on November 25 in the 18800 block of Saint Aubin Street just before 10 p.m

According to authorities, the 16-year-old was allegedly playing with a gun and it accidentally discharged, striking his cousin in the arm.

The 12-year-old was taken to a local hospital for his injuries, and Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said he was likely to be OK.

The 16-year-old was arrested and transported to the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center. He was charged with careless discharge of a firearm causing injury.
