Alleged drug addict shot dead in Bacolod

An alleged drug dealer in Bacolod City was shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants at the JJJ Lobaton Building on Araneta Street in Barangay Tangub around 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 26.

Police identified the fatality as Christopher Zuniga, a resident of Barangay Pahanocoy.

Captain Greeky Cayao, commander of Precinct No. 8, said yesterday that Zuniga had parked his motorcycle along the JJJ Lobaton building on Araneta Street when unidentified assailants on motorcycles fired at him several times and fled towards the southbound direction of Araneta Street.

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

Police recovered four empty shell casings of an unidentified firearm, four plastic sachets of suspected shabu, P900 cash and a motorcycle at the crime scene.

Police believe that illegal drugs are a possible motive for the victim’s murder.

Cayao said Zuniga was a former inmate for illegal drug possession and was released in September 2023.

He said they would coordinate with a local company to check closed-circuit television (CCTV) to establish the identity of the suspects, who are wearing helmets. /MAP
