The draft report on the Haryana clean air project has been approved

The management committee headed by Haryana Chief Secretary Vivek Joshi has approved the draft detailed project report (DPR) on the Haryana Clean Air Project for Sustainable Development.

An official spokesman said the World Bank-funded initiative aims to combat air pollution and promote sustainable development in the country. The project is scheduled for six years (2024-25-2029-30), including 3,600 crore has been allocated for the first phase.

The spokesman said the project took a phased approach to address emissions across multiple sectors. In the first phase, the main focus areas will be Gurugram and Faridabad with institutional strengthening, agriculture and household emissions as the focus. Priority clusters will be identified across the state to implement proposed interventions to reduce agricultural and household pollution.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of inter-ministerial coordination and timely implementation for the success of the project.

Additional Chief Secretary, Environment, Forests and Wildlife Anand Mohan Saran said that detailed discussions were held with senior officials from each department while preparing the project report. To finalize the project interventions, a series of meetings were held, as well as extensive field visits and stakeholder consultations to identify challenges in implementing the proposed measures in various sectors.

The first phase included strategies to reduce emissions through a combination of policy measures, technological interventions and capacity-building programs.
