New developments after the bail hearing for a Catholic priest

WACO, Texas (KXXV) – A bond hearing was held on November 26, 2024 for a Catholic priest currently in jail on three grand jury indictments of sexual assault and one pending potential indictment of criminal possession child pornography.

During the trial, prosecutors presented DNA evidence proving that Anthony Odiong is the biological father of one of his famous victim’s offspring.

Before the hearing, bail was set at $5.5 million. After the hearing, the motion to reduce his bail was denied and his bail will remain at $5.5 million.

An investigation into Odiong was launched in March this year after a credible report was submitted regarding a possible sexual assault in 2012. The investigation has since identified nine survivors.

It has been reported that Odiong’s father is more likely to be his victim’s children; two offspring identifications have been made and more offspring remain to be identified.

An investigation into potential financial crimes has also begun.

Odiong is currently in the McLennan County Jail, where he was extradited from Ave Maria, Florida for his arrest on July 16, 2024. This investigation is ongoing.

Waco police are still looking for survivors of Anthony Odiong’s abuse.

Additional charges are pending.
