A man has been arrested for murder after allegedly attacking a golfer with his own clubs and drowning him in a golf pond

Brian Hiltebeitel was “brutally attacked” in a “random act of violence” and killed on November 25 at Sandhill Crane Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida

On Monday, November 25, a man was arrested in West Palm Beach, Florida, for killing a man with the victim’s golf clubs at a Florida golf course. ABC News, Local 10 AND WPTV.

Junior Boucher, 36, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 65-year-old Brian Hiltebeitel, who was reported missing by his family an hour before the incident. Hiltebeitel was “brutally attacked” in a “random act of violence” at Sandhill Crane Golf Club in West Palm Beach around 1:30 p.m. on November 25, police said.

According to a statement from Palm Beach Gardens police, according to ABC News, a witness heard Hiltebeitel shouting, “He’s trying to kill me” as he fled from Boucher, who was swinging a golf club.

Boucher, who was previously arrested on unrelated drug charges and domestic battery, allegedly began hitting Hiltebeitel in the head with a golf club. Boucher then chased Hiltebeitel toward a pond on the first hole of the golf course, according to ABC News police.

Boucher allegedly continued to punch Hiltebeitel at the pond. Then in the water, “(Boucher) jumped on Hiltebeitel and appeared to choke him,” according to the police report.

When Hiltebeitel stopped moving, the suspect allegedly punched him in the head several more times. Boucher then emerged from the water and “undressed,” according to the affidavit.

Authorities then arrived at the scene and found Boucher running away naked. Officers then went to Hiltebeitel and removed him from the pond, where he was found with “numerous deep lacerations to the back of his head and body.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Boucher tried to escape from authorities, but was arrested “only after using an electronic control weapon.” Palm Beach Gardens Police Chief Dominick Pape said Boucher was arrested “after a short foot pursuit.”

“At this time, it does not appear that Boucher had any legitimate purpose for being on the golf course. This appears to be a random act of violence in which Boucher used the victim’s golf clubs as weapons and brutally attacked the victim, ultimately killing him, Pape said during Thursday press conferenceaccording to WPTV.

Authorities are still investigating the murder and note that they know of no connection between Boucher and Hiltebeitel.

Boucher is being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail, according to WPTV and Local 10.

A representative for the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for additional information Tuesday.
