Philippine Vice President Duterte faces police charges over his conflict with Marcos

The Philippine police filed a complaint against the vice president Sarah Duterte and her protection in connection with the alleged assault and use of coercion during the recent incident in Congress, which was taken due to the deepening conflict with the president Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

A police statement said the charges relate to events that occurred while Duterte’s chief of staff, Zuleika Lopez, was being transported to the House of Representatives Government Hospital, where Lopez was held. “Numerous charges” were brought in connection with the “unlawful acts of assault, disobedience and coercion that took place during the incident,” he said.
