90 suspected people identified after Garda photo appeal – The Irish Times

Guard they believe they have already identified most of the 99 “persons of interest” they want to talk to about the topic Riots in Dublin last year and whose photos they made available to the public.

Gardaí said on Wednesday that information had been received about around 90 of the people pictured. As a result, An Garda Síochána stated that it had removed all remaining images from the Garda website.

“The investigation team will continue to consider how to move forward and identify the small number of remaining ‘person of interest’ cases,” a gardaí statement said.

Earlier this month, gardaí published CCTV images of 99 “people under investigation” on the Garda website. The purpose of the publication was to identify those people who could either govern each person or participate in the investigative process and also lead the investigative process forward.

Gardaí have so far arrested and charged 57 people with offenses relating to the riots, with a total of almost 150 suspects charged or still facing charges. So far, 14 suspects have been convicted.

Sharing photos – ensuring their availability and the scale of the collection – is unheard of in the Republic of Poland. The Irish Civil Liberties Council expressed concern about the possible breach of the right to the presumption of innocence and a fair trial of the people depicted in the photos.
