Terrorism will not be allowed under the guise of protest: IG Islamabad

Islamabad Inspector General of Police Ali Nasir Rizvi said non-lethal weapons were used to clear D-Chowk and adjoining areas of protesters in the capital.

Addressing a press conference today along with Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, he said a total of 954 protesters were arrested, including 610 yesterday.

He said more than two hundred vehicles were confiscated and various weapons, including Klashhinkov pistols and rifles, were recovered from protesters.

The Inspector General said that the search operation is still ongoing. He said terrorism would not be tolerated under the guise of protest.

Referring to the damage caused by the protesters, he said stringent legal action would be taken against them and their instigators. He expressed his commitment to protecting people’s lives and property.

In his remarks, the Islamabad Chief Commissioner said that no one will be able to take the law into their own hands and challenge the state’s order. He said all law enforcement agencies played their role to deal with the situation in the federal capital.

He announced that the data of Afghan citizens will be verified and only people with National Olympic Committees will be able to live in the federal capital.
