A Met officer investigated the arrest of a sex education actor

Netflix star Richards said he witnessed a car crash after which two men fled on foot, and then told police where they fled.

But he wrote that four officers instead restrained him by sitting on him, which worsened existing injuries to his back, ribs and abdomen.

“In the blink of an eye, I was lying face down on the sidewalk with several officers holding me down, pushing my head into the ground,” he said.

“I didn’t see anything, but I heard my mother nearby, screaming and crying, begging them to let me out.

“This feeling of helplessness will never leave me. The entire experience has been embarrassing, deeply depressing and exhausting.”

In response, the Met said that before the incident involving Richards, officers had been chasing a suspicious car with false number plates, which accused officers of “racial profiling”.

The Met has previously admitted that pepper spray was used during the arrest and reported it to the Professional Standards Directorate.
