An Air India pilot takes her life in an Andheri apartment and a boy is arrested for abetting her

Air India pilot Srishti Tuli, 25, was found dead in his Andheri apartment. Her boyfriend, Aditya Pandit, was arrested for aiding suicide following molestation allegations.

On November 25, 25-year-old Air India pilot Srishti Tuli was found dead in a rented apartment in Andheri East, Mumbai on November 25. The Powai police have arrested her 27-year-old boyfriend Aditya Pandit on charges of abetment to suicide. The arrest came after allegations from Srishti’s family, who accused Pandit of behaving aggressively and inciting her to take the drastic step.

Srishti was a commercial pilot from Uttar Pradesh. Due to work, she was in Mumbai since June 2023. She was staying in Kanakia rainforest in Marol, Andheri East. Police said she was found hanging in her apartment with a data cable. According to reports, no suicide note was found.

According to the FIR, the incident took place between midnight and 3 p.m. on November 25. Pandit had been her boyfriend for almost two years and had been living in her apartment for almost a week before the tragedy.

Troublesome relationship

Srishti and Pandit met two years ago when they were undergoing pilot training in Delhi. The relationship turned into a romance, but her family members said the relationship was strained. Pandit was accused of constantly arguing with her over the phone and of being controlling and abusive.

Srishti’s uncle, Vivekkumar Tuli, alleged that Pandit harassed her, often in public places, and even forced her to stop eating non-vegetarian food. He narrated an incident where a Pandit shouted at her at a party for eating non-vegetarian food and forbade her from doing so again. Another time, a Pandit allegedly damaged her car, leaving her stranded.

Despite these problems, Srishti cared deeply for Pandit. Her cousin and other relatives confirmed that they witnessed his aggressive behavior, which they believed was affecting her mental health.

Events leading to the incident

On November 25, Pandit left Srishti’s apartment around 1 am and went to Delhi. While traveling, Srishti called him, threatening to take her own life. According to reports, Pandit turned around and ran to Mumbai.

When he returned, he found her apartment locked and called her friend Urvi Panchal. They went to a key duplicator to open the door, but found Srishti hanging inside. She was taken to Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri East, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Complaint regarding family records

Srishti’s uncle lodged a formal complaint against Pandit, accusing him of mental harassment and abuse. Her relatives said Pandit’s erratic behavior and days-long refusal to talk to her over minor misunderstandings had affected her deeply. They cited an incident where Srishti missed Pandit’s sister’s engagement due to work, which led to Pandit’s prolonged silence towards her.

Powai police have lodged an FIR under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in a suicide case. Police arrested him on November 26; the court sends him to police custody until November 29 for detailed interrogation. She underwent pilot training in Dwarka, Delhi. In 2023, she was appointed to Air India.
