Twelve Ends Proper Links to Conor McGregor Amid Sexual Assault Ruling, UK and Irish Stores Recall Conor McGregor Products

The company that owns Proper No 12 Whiskey has decided to stop using Conor McGregor’s name and image on bottles. This comes after a court ruled that McGregor attacked stylist Nikita Handwho will now receive €248,000 in compensation.

Although Proximo Spirits purchased the whiskey brand from McGregor in 2021, he continued to promote it on social media. But now the company has said it will end the merger.

“As of 2021, Proximo Spirits owns 100% of Proper No. Irish Whiskey. 12,” said Proximo Spirits. “We do not plan to use Mr. McGregor’s name or likeness in brand marketing in the future.” By Irish Independent.

Several major retailers have decided to remove Conor McGregor’s drinks from their shelves. Musgrave, the company behind SuperValu and Centra, was the first to recall products, including Forged Irish Stout, a brand with which McGregor was associated. With over 1,250 stores across Ireland, Musgrave’s decision was made after McGregor lost a court case.

Spar, owned by BWG Foods, also announced that it will no longer stock McGregor products in its network of over 1,000 stores. The move followed public backlash following the McGregor ruling.

“The products are no longer available for distribution in our network of Spar, Eurospar, Mace, Londis and XL stores.”

Tesco also announced that it would no longer sell Proper No 12 whisky. A spokesman confirmed this decision.

“We can confirm that we are withdrawing Proper No 12 from sale in Tesco stores and online. Tesco does not stock Forged Irish Stout.”

After a court ruled that Conor McGregor was responsible for the 2018 incident involving Nikita Hand, several companies decided to end their cooperation with him. A jury awarded Hand almost $260,000 in damages after she accused McGregor of assault. McGregor denies the accusations and plans to appeal the verdict.

Proximo Spirits, owner of the McGregor whiskey brand, has announced that it will no longer use his name or image. Similarly, IO Interactive, the company behind the “Hitman” video game series, revealed that McGregor will no longer appear in its games. Meanwhile, the UFC is silent on the matter.
