Police involved in a second car chase on Highway 501 just over 24 hours apart

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Horry County officers were involved in another car chase along Highway 501 on Tuesday evening.

HCPD attempted to stop a car that was reported stolen from Myrtle Beach around 9:45 p.m. on Highway 501 near Rabon Road in the Aynor area.

A police report shows the alleged driver, Brad Dickens, failed to slow down and drove on Highway 501 toward Conway.

The report states that during the pursuit, the car struck several stop poles, ran multiple red lights and weaved across lanes of traffic.

Witnesses shared videos of the chase, showing nearly a dozen police vehicles following a vehicle with flat tires.

The car eventually stopped on Highway 501 at Legends Drive, where investigators said they arrested Dickens.

Documents show Dickens is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a drug possession warrant from Aynor Police and numerous charges stemming from the pursuit, including failure to stop for a blue light, reckless driving and driving without a license driving.

Horry County Police also participated in a pursuit on Highway 501 on Monday evening.
