Investigation into Alloa flat explosion, which killed one person and injured three, ‘ongoing’

An investigation into a flat explosion in Alloa, which killed a man and injured three other people, is “ongoing”.

On October 6, Graham Green was pronounced dead at the scene of the explosion in Kellie Place.

On Wednesday, Scottish police said the 50-year-old’s death was not being treated as suspicious.

However, the Crown Office and Fiscal Service said the investigation was ongoing.

Three other people, a 72-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, were taken to Forth Valley Royal Infirmary for treatment of minor injuries following the incident.

CCTV footage from a nearby restaurant captured the moment of explosion of a block of flats on Sunday, October 6.

The footage shows a mass of orange flames shooting from the property along with a loud boom.

The gas distribution company SGN sent engineers to the site, but later confirmed that the cause of the explosion was not the water supply network.

Mr Green was at the property at the time of the explosion and his death was initially treated as unexplained.

However, 52 days later, following a multi-agency investigation and autopsy, police concluded that no suspicious circumstances had been established.

The detectives sent a report to the Fiscal Prosecutor’s Office.

A spokesman for the Crown Office and the Procurator Fiscal Office: “The Procurator Fiscal received a report regarding the death of a 50-year-old man in Alloa on October 6, 2024.

“The death investigation is ongoing and we will inform the family of any significant developments.”
