Sexually exploited Odisha housewife dies by suicide

HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old housewife from Odisha, who was reportedly lured into surrogacy by a local and sexually abused, died by suicide in a flat at Gachibowli.

The victim was subjected to sexual abuse by a man who, according to reliable sources, took her to his apartment at My Home Bhooja in Gachibowli a month ago with the promise of paying Rs 10 lakh for surrogacy.

Victim Ashvita Singh was found dead under suspicious circumstances on the lawn of her apartment. The police suspect that she was unable to bear the harassment from Rajesh Babu.

On Tuesday, around 11 p.m., she called her husband Sanjay Singh and informed him that Rajesh Babu was forcing her to have physical contact and therefore she had decided to end her life. Returning home at 1 a.m., Sanjay along with his security guard went to the ninth floor and found his wife’s body on the lawn, Raidurgam police said.

The police have registered a case of abetment to suicide and sexual harassment against Rajesh Babu under section 75 (11) and 108 BNS and arrested him.
