Injured Ravens TE Charlie Kolar was expected to miss time

Ravens tight end Charlie Kolar is expected to be sidelined for about a month with a broken hand. according to NFL Network.

Kolar, who was absent from Wednesday’s practice, played 54 snaps during the Ravens’ Monday win over the Los Angeles Chargers, including the team’s final offensive snap. However, later in the locker room, his right arm was wrapped and wrapped in a sling.

The Ravens have enough depth at the position to overcome Kolar’s absence. Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely are the dynamic receiver duo, and Patrick Ricard is the sound blocker. However, Kolar’s injury will likely deprive the team of a reliable on-field option for the next month, which will see them face the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Baltimore announced that it has signed Scotty Washington, who was previously a member of the organization, to a practice squad contract.

The Ravens received some good injury news on Wednesday as linebacker Michael Pierce and All-Pro middle linebacker Roquan Smith returned to practice. Pierce, one of the team’s best players, was placed on injured reserve after suffering a calf injury in the Ravens’ Week 8 loss to the Cleveland Browns a month ago.

The Ravens, who rank second in the NFL in run defense (77.9 yards per game), now have 21 days to move Pierce to the active roster. The Philadelphia Eagles, the NFL’s rushing leaders (193.4 yards per game), will arrive in Baltimore on Sunday.

Smith missed the Ravens’ Monday win due to a hamstring injury he suffered in the Week 11 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. His return on Wednesday indicates that the All-Pro may be ready to return on Sunday.

Rookie safety Sanoussi Kane (ankle), who was also injured against Pittsburgh, also returned to the field on Wednesday. In addition to Kolar, the Ravens were missing outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy and cornerback Arthur Maulet (calf).
