Woman abducted from 7-Eleven, then assaulted in Virginia Beach: court records

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A woman was allegedly abducted from a 7-Eleven and then sexually assaulted in Virginia Beach. Now the accused of this crime is in prison.

A search warrant shows that last March, a man was seen interacting with a woman in the middle of the night at a 7-Eleven on Indian River Road in Virginia Beach.

It states that he allegedly stood behind her, put his arms around her, walked her out of the store to his car, and then left the 7-Eleven.

She was seen at 7-Eleven at 1:20 a.m. and found across the street five hours later.

She states that she woke up and caught the attention of a man standing nearby, but noticed that she was missing several pieces of jewelry.

In September, 36-year-old Brinton Robinson was arrested for rape and kidnapping.

The files show how investigators eavesdropped on his telephone conversations in prison. During the investigation, authorities found that he was allegedly seen wearing the victim’s stolen jewelry.

His lawyer said he could not comment yet because he said he was waiting for Commonwealth discovery documents.

Curtis Belgerove, who works nearby, said he was stunned and disturbed to hear the accusations.

“I’m surprised. “I’m shocked, really, at a 7-Eleven of all places,” he said. “It’s usually nice, and when I hear things like that, I think about the women in my family.”

Crime analyst Richard James says these cases are complex and often agencies employ the most experienced investigators.

“In these particular cases, you really have to know what you’re doing. The Virginia Beach District Attorney’s Office will work with police investigators to ensure this case is appropriate, James said.

Robinson’s trial is scheduled for December 6. He is currently incarcerated at the Virginia Beach Jail.
