A man was seriously injured in a shooting near the fall festival

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – West Palm Beach police are investigating after a man was shot Sunday evening.

Police spokesman Mike Jachles said officers attending a nearby fall festival called police to the 1600 block of North Australian Avenue.

The fall festival was a highlight at the Gaines Park Community Center.

Police said fire crews took the man to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he is in critical condition.

It is unclear where the man was shot, and police say no other injuries have been reported at this time.

During Sunday evening, detectives conducted an investigation on Australian Avenue from North Magnolia Drive to 15th Street.

More shots were fired

Less than an hour later, a second round of shots rang out at the scene. Police officers then responded to the 600 block of 10th Street around 7:30 p.m

Jachles said no victims were found after the scene. At this time, police do not believe the shootings are related.
