Harker Heights police identify victim killed by gunshot wound and suspect killed by self-inflicted gunshot wound

HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) – The Harker Heights Police Department has identified the man who died from a gunshot wound on November 17 as Christopher Serres, 70, of Harker Heights.

Police also identified the suspect as 56-year-old Helmut Holder, who was later found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Wood County.

On November 17, around 2 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Jason Dr. regarding calling for help.

Upon arrival, officers found Serres suffering from a gunshot wound. Serres died at the scene at 3:29 p.m

Officials said Holder was later found dead in Wood County, Texas, by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say there is no threat to the community in connection with this incident.
