The Vanderbilt Commodores offensive line needs to improve against the Tennessee front

If Vanderbilt you need to focus on slowing down Tennessee in attack they also have to worry about stout Volunteer defense front.

The Commodores offensive line has had some issues protecting the quarterback and getting the lane open in the running game this season, so they’ll have to come up with something different if they want to change the outcome against Tennessee this weekend.

When reviewing a matchup during competition week, Professional focus on footballDalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick emphasized that this side of the ball could decide the outcome of the match.

Diego Pavia actually doesn’t come down so much.

Vanderbilt ranks 26th in the nation in sacks allowed at 14.

This is largely due to Pavia’s ability to call things out during games and stay out of the pocket. He can handle a lot of pressure, especially from the edge. Both starting tackles have allowed 20 or more pressures this season.

The star quarterback is actually quite productive under pressure, at least compared to the signal dropout that most signal callers face.

He is under pressure in 40.3% of his losses, virtually every time the opposing team attacks. On those plays, he completed 40% of his passes for 474 yards, which included six touchdowns and two interceptions.

It may not be a great level of accuracy, but it doesn’t knock the balls over or allow them to turn into bags. That’s about all teams can ask for from a college graduate.

Thanks to the low sack rate, the Commodores finished 21st with 4.36 tackles for loss allowed per game.

Defensively, the Volunteers rank 43rd in total rebounds (26) and sixth in total tackles for loss (8 per game).

James Pearce Jr. he’s a player worth highlighting for Vanderbilt on the side of the ball that needs to be at his best to keep him.

He is currently one of the top NFL draft prospects in college, and for good reason, as he is one of the best pass rushers in the country and is a good tackler.

His 49 total pressures on the season rank fifth among individual edge rushers.

The Commodores faced a challenge a lot of pressure in last week’s defeat against LSU Tigersallowing 17 in this game alone. Although Pavia was only knocked down twice, he was unable to gain positive momentum.
