One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Marksville

MARKSVILLE, LA (KALB) – Louisiana State Police have revealed that one person has died following a shooting that occurred on Scallan Street near MLK Drive in Marksville on November 25.

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office asked LSP to investigate the incident that day at 4:20 p.m.

According to an investigation by LSP, an APSO deputy was investigating several previous shootings in the Bethune Community Center area when an encounter occurred with multiple individuals on Scallan Street. During that encounter, LSP said a deputy fired his gun, resulting in one person being shot. LSP reported that a gun was found near the person who was shot, who was taken to hospital and ultimately pronounced dead.
