Before John Setka filed his PTSD complaint against the CFMEU, organizer Ronnie Buckley tried to sue the union after he was severely beaten on the job

The administrator of the CFMEU is fighting an estimated $5 million lawsuit filed by an organizer who was allegedly beaten on a construction site while conducting a safety inspection, leaving him with only one working eye and unable to work for the rest of his life.

The lawsuit comes amid the fact that John Setka, who at the time headed the CFMEU chapter of which the organizer was a member, is reportedly pursuing an employment claim against the union due to post-traumatic stress disorder, which he claims he developed while serving as the chapter’s secretary.
