Hamilton police arrest man wanted for brutal sexual assaults – CP24

Hamilton Police have arrested a man they believe is responsible for two brutal sexual assaults in West Mountain in 2022 and 2023.

Police say the first robbery occurred on the morning of July 13, 2022, in the area of ​​Upper Paradise and Donnici Drive.

Police say the woman was pulled from the path she was walking on, gagged and had her wrists tied behind her back. She was attacked, but the attacker was prevented by people walking around the area.

A year later, on August 7, 2023, police said a 74-year-old woman was attacked in her West Mountain home as she slept. They say the man harassed her for over an hour before leaving.

Police say forensic evidence from both assaults linked them to the same man in January this year.

Police say the suspect lived in the United States and has since been extradited to Canada.

Leikeze Cheruiyot, 22, is now facing six charges, including two counts of forcible confinement, aggravated assault and sexual assault, and breaking and entering with intent to commit sexual assault.
