AKT: Skating coach charged by Child Abuse Task Force for alleged sexual assault crimes

As police released details of sexual assault allegations, a man who took advantage of his position as an ice skating coach allegedly preyed on young people.

A 64-year-old man has been charged with multiple sex offenses after a search warrant was executed at his home in the ACT on Wednesday.

Specialist investigators from the ACT Police Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team visited a flat in Calwell where search warrants were executed.

The man was subsequently arrested and charged with 10 offenses including seven counts of indecency with a young person and three counts of sexual intercourse with a young person.

Police allege the 64-year-old used his role as a renowned Canberra skating coach to gain access to his victim. The alleged crimes in this case occurred in 2015–2016.
