Redding woman charged with vehicular manslaughter following fatal collision on Lake Boulevard

Redding Police Department (RPD) has identified the driver involved in approximately fatal hit and run on Thursday in Redding.

RPD said at approximately 1:54 p.m., officers responded to a collision in the area of ​​Lake Boulevard near Clay Street. At the scene, the police found a pedestrian who was alone on the side of the road and had been hit by a car.

The investigation led officers to discover that the pedestrian was pushing a shopping cart on the shoulder of Lake Boulevard when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 44-year-old Jessica Kathryn Remedios of Redding. Police reported that she did so. Remedios failed to stop after hitting the pedestrian and instead went to her home.

Police contacted Remedios at her home and booked her for vehicular manslaughter, DUI causing serious bodily injury or death, and hit and run, and booked her into the Shasta County Jail.

According to RPD, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
