Post Puja Khedkar, her father Dilip Khedkar is currently at the center of controversy following his recent declaration of marital status filed with the Election Commission of India ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Dilip Khedkar, who has filed his nomination as an independent candidate from Ahmednagar South constituency, has in his latest affidavit declared that he is ‘divorced’, which is in contrast to his earlier declared ‘married’ status with Manorama Khedkar in his affidavit submitted to Parliament in 2024 r. Elections in Saba.

In his previous affidavit filed before the Lok Sabha elections, in which he contested Ahmednagar’s seat on Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi’s ticket, Khedkar claimed to be married to Manorama Khedkar and disclosed their joint properties, describing their household as an “undivided Hindu family”. However, the latest affidavit stands in stark contrast to the information previously provided.

“Divorce Finalized in 2010”

It is worth noting that amidst this controversy, an India Today report stated that Dilip and Manorama Khedkar first filed for divorce in a family court in Pune in 2009 and their separation ended on June 25, 2010 by mutual consent. According to reports, despite their legal separation, the two continued to live together in Manorama Khedkar’s bungalow in Pune’s Baner area.

Meanwhile, in other news, Dilip Khedkar also recently faced legal troubles after the police registered a case against him for allegedly threatening a public servant in the Pune Collectorate and obstructing his work. According to sources, the case arose around the time Puja Khedkar joined Collectorate Pune as a trainee IAS officer. The FIR mentions that Dilip Khedkar used to visit the office frequently, allegedly putting pressure on the tehsildar and other government employees to allocate a separate cabin to Puja.
